Actor Headshots

  • What to wear?

Wear something simple without patterns, v- neck, crew neck tops will do! Bring few different outfits tops that would suit different characters. For example a blouse/shirt for a character who would work in the office and a t-shirt/ sweatshirt for a character who is meant to be more casual a girl/boy next door. Think about what type of characters you're likely to play and choose outfits that would reflect their characteristics. Bring a biker jacked or a trench coat or just a jacket. Don't be shy and bring whatever you think might work (and carry) and we can browse through your options! Try to wear tops with sleeves there can be few exceptions but best to keep it discreet and ladies try to avoid low cut blouses. Anything that matches your eye colour will work! Matching your top to your eye colour will really make your eyes standout. Do not be afraid of soft colours. Black, cream, green, blue would work. Bright colours such as red and pink could work but make sure you have neutral options.

Make up! Please don't rely solely on editing. If you want to achieve flawless skin please do wear some foundation and a little bit of concealer. For males I'd suggest to e-mail me about that separately or when booking your session if you have any questions I can give you some advice. It's applaudable when some female actors choose to take their headshots without make up and embrace their natural beauty. If that's what you decide to do please bear in mind that

when you receive your edited photos you will look like you are not wearing any make up, so if you have problematic skin I'd suggest putting a thin layer of foundation and a little bit of concealer.

  • What to avoid?

Avoid patterns, stripes, lines, flowers, multicoloured: tops, jackets, jumpers and etc as it might be distracting to CD and take attention from your face! We want then to focus on your eyes and face - not the outfit! Do not wear jewellery! Remove earrings, necklaces (unless there are reasons why you can't) as CD's want to see your face as it naturally is, it is also considered to be distracting. Avoid turtle necks - as much as I love them CD's would appreciate if they could see  how roughly your body is shaped and having visible neck would help.  Avoid heavy make up!! CD's want to see you as natural as possible so please do not wear heavy eyeliner or bright red lipstick - this applies to men too!
